The history of Palazzo di Varignana is rooted in the border region where the traditional crops of Emilia met those of Romagna. This is where our Sangiovese Superiore DOC wine is born—a wine that honors the heritage of the Emilia-Romagna region and the Varignana area. Sangiovese is one of the most widespread native red grape varieties, which has found its home in Romagna. A wine suitable for any type of menu, from first courses to meat sauces, to grilled and roasted red meats. Sangiovese Superiore is one of the Palazzo di Varignana wines that can be tasted at the farm’s winery. It presents an intense ruby red color with violet hues. On the nose, it offers hints of cherry and small red and black fruits, enhanced by ethereal notes of licorice. On the palate, the wine is slender, fresh, and balanced, with vibrant tannins that reveal the true soul of the Varignana terroir. The savory and persistent finish echoes the aromas perceived on the nose. Serving temperature: approximately 18°C. Alcohol content: 13,5%

Chardonnay is a grape variety from which some of the finest and most famous wines are produced; it is one of the most widely cultivated white grape varieties in the world. The density of the soil and the significant temperature fluctuations between day and night in the Varignana region enhance this grape’s aromatic potential, making it rich and alluring. Chardonnay has a bright yellow color; its aroma is delicate and evokes notes of fruit such as pear, white flowers, and vanilla—unique characteristics of this wine. Pinot Nero is a single-varietal wine, meaning it is made from a single grape variety. From vineyards planted with black grapes, a light ruby-red wine is produced that embodies the silkiness of Palazzo di Varignana, the most noble expression of a bold challenge to the terroir. This wine is crafted using specific winemaking techniques and then aged in French oak barrels. The mosaic of soils typical of the badland landscape surrounding the hills of Palazzo di Varignana imparts unique characteristics to the Pinot Noir. The concentration of blue clay and the aromatic expression of yellow sand create a complex, classic, and elegant wine capable of bringing out the full potential of this terroir.
