Founded in 2015, Agrivar, the agricultural estate of Palazzo di Varignana, launched an agronomic landscape regeneration project, planting more than 160,000 olive trees across 265 hectares. A long-term project aimed at bringing ancient olive varieties back to the land where history had already seen them flourish.

Olive trees are extraordinary plants, extremely long-lived and resilient. Their robust root system contributes to soil stability and helps counter erosion. Thanks to their ability to absorb large amounts of CO2, they play a concrete role in the fight against climate change, helping to mitigate the negative effects of global warming. In addition, an olive grove is a special ecosystem: beneath its branches, almost like a natural undergrowth, a rich biodiversity finds shelter, from insects to birds, and even small mammals and wild plants.

But olive trees are not only useful and generous plants; their beauty, with canopies that change tone and brightness in the breeze, transforms the hills into unique landscapes, symbol of an ancient balance between humans and nature.

It is impossible to know for certain how long an olive tree can live; people speak of centuries. The oldest even exceed three thousand years, witnesses to a longevity and resilience without equal.
