Due Bicchieri Guide Italian Wine 2026 Gambero Rosso for our l'Albana Romagna DOCG

Leggi Post

Albana Romagna DOCG has, for the first time, been awarded the Due Bicchieri (two glasses) Award in the Gambero RossoItalian Wines Guide 2026, one of the most prestigious recognitions in the national wine scene.

“Due Bicchieri” represents a level of excellence within the Gambero Rosso Italian Wines Guide. Wines that receive this distinction are considered outstanding, with high quality, and represent the top of Italian production. The evaluation is based on criteria such as quality, complexity, and elegance, all of which must reflect the character of the wine’s place of origin.

This achievement confirms the steady growth of the winemaking project at Palazzo di Varignana’s agricultural estate, founded in 2015 and now a benchmark for sustainable agriculture and the promotion of the Emilia-Romagna region.

A wine that encapsulates all the nuances of the land, authentic and intense, capable of reflecting all the warmth of Emilia-Romagna. Palazzo di Varignana’s Albana Romagna DOCG originates from the western slopes of the Bolognese hills, where the slender grape clusters enjoy full sun exposure. The soils, composed of yellow sands with fragments of stone that improve drainage and aromatic concentration, give the wine elegance and complexity.

The harvest takes place at full ripeness, during the coolest hours of the day, with gentle must extraction and fermentation in cement tanks at controlled temperatures. Aging on the lees through the winter gives the wine structure and depth, while maintaining a fresh, luminous profile. The result is a white wine that reveals harmony and aromatic richness, enhancing the mineral nuances of the local soils. Its aromatic intensity makes it an excellent match for fish dishes, pumpkin-filled tortelli, white meats, and vegetarian recipes such as veloutés and vegetable flans.

The recognition awarded to Albana Romagna DOCG marks an important milestone in Palazzo di Varignana’s journey toward increasingly distinctive, sustainable, and excellent viticulture.
